Taylor-Swift
Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great success with the tales she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift was interested in music at an early age. She swiftly rose through the ranks, starting with roles in children's theater before performing in front of a huge crowd. Swift began to compose songs at the age of 11. She performed The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Swift took inspiration from artists from the country genre, such as Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and, more recently, the Chicks in order to write original music which reflected the alienation she experienced at 13 years old. Swift's parents moved her to Tennessee at the age of 13 when they decided to sell their Pennsylvania farm. The move allowed Swift to devote more time trying to find labels that would promote traditional music from Nashville.
